Sizzling September Vacation Deals on Tap In Southern Costa Rica
We want to let you in on a little secret ….
September is one of the best months of the year to plan a quick Costa Rica getaway.
Why so, you ask?
Several reasons.
First and foremost, with the kiddos back in school vacation crowds will be way down across the country. That means luxury vacation rental homes are priced about as low as you’ll find all year. And the proof, as they say, is in the pudding.

Visiting Costa Rica in the “Green Season”
In addition to the low prices for home rentals and airline tickets — yes, September airline prices are much easier on the pocketbook — there are many other logical reasons to visit the area during what is termed the “green season.”
Surfing conditions, from Dominical all the way down to Pavones, can be high quality during the ninth month of the year, with minimal crowds up and down the coastline. It’s also peak whale watching season, with beautiful blue ballenas patrolling local waters en masse. River rafting conditions are often pristine as well, with the Savegre, Guabo and Naranjo rivers all producing epic rides downstream. Even Manuel Antonio National Park, perhaps the busiest tourist spot in the region, sees manageable crowds. If you’ve longed to visit this world-famous national park without rubbing elbows with hundreds of other tourists, September is the time to go.
What is Costa Rica like in September?
Temperatures are another top draw in September. Days are warm, but not too hot. Think mid 80s to high 70s. Afternoon and evening rains cool things off even further, and the nights are as pleasant and comforting as a Spanish guitar solo, hitting all the right notes on your body.
In southern Costa Rica, September has always been our little secret. Not anymore. We want to share this wonderful experience with you, good friend, because a few months from now the sun will start cooking, the crowds will begin to expand and everything will get a bit more busy.
But before any of that madness takes place, let’s just all enjoy September for what it really is, one of the finest months on the vacation calendar.
