Here you’ll find a list of local restaurants in the Southern Pacific Zone of Costa Rica. This handy guide has been broken up into three sections: Dominical, options between Dominical and Uvita, and restaurants in Ojochal. Hours of operation can change depending on the season, please confirm days and times of operation with the restaurant directly.
The first establishment you’ll see upon entering Dominical town. A popular spot with locals and tourists, folks flock here early for freshly brewed coffee, hot breakfast, fruit smoothies, and otherworldly desserts. They also serve a variety of sub-style sandwiches with wicked steak fries on the side.
RICAR2 El AVION
Just a few minutes east of Dominical, on the road toward San Isidro, sits a fully assembled 727 Boeing airplane. Adjacent to that airplane is Ricar2 Restaurant, which serves seafood, pasta, and meat dishes. Kids will be entertained by the plane and pool, but the food is very tasty, too.
SOL FROZEN YOGURT & GELATO
It can get hot in Dominical, but luckily we have Sol Frozen Yogurt! Located at the entrance to Dominical, you’ll find frozen delights of every kind here: Ice cream, frozen yogurt, gelato, iced coffees, banana splits, healthy smoothies, fresh juices, acai bowls and other cold and delicious offerings.
A very popular new addition to the entrance of Dominical, this little restaurant is on the left side of the street, serving up 100% Authentic Indian Cuisine in Costa Rica. You can call ahead to reserve a table, or to order takeout to enjoy back at the Villa.
If you are searching fort he best of Caribbean food over here on the Pacific coast, look no further than our little beach town of Dominical. Stop by for the popular, Caribbean Chicken Burger with fries for lunch. Or swing in after sunset for cocktails, beers and tons of fresh dishes featuring seafood, meat, chicken and vegetarian options.
Thai food, curry, salads, and seafood are served up for lunch and dinner with unique daily specials. They’ve got a full bar and a cocktail menu featuring local fruits.
EL PESCADO LOCO
The most popular Seafood stop for a quick bite is serving up Fish & Chips, Fish Tacos, Shrimp Tacos, and Fish Sandwiches. The menu also includes salad specials and tofu & vegetarian dishes as well. Guests consistently rank this restaurant at the top on TripAdvisor.
CAFE MONO CONGO
A menu focused on healthy eats and fresh local produce. This cafe is THE place in town to quench your thirst, where beverage options range from fresh squeezed juices, smoothies, teas, coffee, kombucha to ciders and craft beer on tap. A popular menu item here is the Tico breakfast burrito.
FUEGO BREW CO.
There’s a hidden gem in the center of Dominical called Fuego Brew Co., where the jurassic-park style gated entrance obscures the three-story restaurant and brew pub. Stop by for happy-hour and enjoy their craft beer with a view of the sunset over the river.
THE KRAZY KINKAJOU
This cafe and restaurant are easy to spot, just look for the well-known VW bus out front. Featuring European food and grill, this is a spacious place for large groups and often features live bands and concerts.
Between Dominical & Uvita
La Parcela serves up fresh delicious seafood with a panoramic ocean view of the Osa Peninsula. The sunset view at this restaurant is amazing.
Kunjani Cafe is the newest coffee shop in town. Located in Dominicalito near the soccer field, in the Aracari Square Courtyard, order a coffee, pastries or food dish.
Infusion Bistro, located at Villa Alturas, features a breathtaking ocean view. They are open for lunch and dinner. There is also an animal sanctuary up the same mountain road.
Mediterranean Restaurant, Bar & Boutique
Before you enter Uvita, on the right side of the road you’ll find The Beehive Restaurant & Bar. This healthy Mediterranean restaurant has something for everyone. The menu includes chicken, lamb, pork, seafood, filet mignon, and even greek lasagna. Chicken fingers, fish sticks, and pizza will keep the kiddos happy. Beehive often has live music and events so be sure to check out what’s on the calendar.
CARLITOS RESTAURANT & BAR
Carlito’s Restaurant & Bar is a Latin-fusion restaurant that specializes in Mexican food dishes and drinks with a touch of Costa Rican, Cuban, and American influence.
The Dome restaurant in central Uvita offers your favorite breakfast and lunch staples. Costa Rican or American-style breakfast plates, burgers, salads, wraps plus freshly made juices, lemonades, and smoothies.
Ballena Bistro is located at kilometer 169 on the coastal highway, between Uvita and Ojochal in Costa Rica. Rustic and contemporary with modern fusion cuisine, Ballena Bistro is a neighborhood eatery that uses fresh local produce for all homemade dishes. Closed on Mondays.
PURA VIDA BAR & RESTAURANT
Located at the Cristal Ballena hotel, Pura Vida Restaurant & Bar features delicious international and Costa Rican cuisine with an Austrian touch. They serve a wide variety of refreshing cocktails and beverages with an ocean view.
THE BAMBOO ROOM
The Bamboo Room is located at Alma de Ojochal. A large entertaining space offers seating for 80 and features awesome ocean and sunset views. Enjoy fabulous fresh cuisine and check the calendar for live entertainment events.
KUA KUA RESTAURANT
At Kua Kua, the menu changes with the seasons, adjusting to reflect prime produce and protein availability. The unique poolside Bar 360, has incredible views. The restaurant and bar are for adults only, ages 16 and up.
