3 Mistakes To Avoid on a Vacation to Costa Rica

Mistakes to avoid on Costa Rica Vacation

We all make mistakes. Here are some common tour-related mistakes that are easy to make on vacation in Costa Rica. And a few ideas on how you can avoid them.

1. Choosing a tour provider because they offer the lowest price:

A Google search might show you a lower price, but do you really want your family dangling from an old zip-line? We sure don’t! When you book activities with YouGetHere Vacation Rentals, you get a ton of concierge services included in addition to a luxury vacation villa. There’s a reason why we hand-select the top tour providers and most professional in-villa chefs.

The providers we recommend are people we know personally and work with on a daily basis. We encourage all of our guests to utilize our free concierge services that ensure a reputable and certified company is providing your Costa Rica adventure tour.

2. Overbooking your vacation days:

This is a common error. There is so much to do in the Southern Pacific Zone of Costa Rica that you might have to resort to flipping a coin or taking a group vote to narrow down the options. Sometimes we have guests that are determined to fly in on a Friday and schedule an afternoon tour. While we applaud your vim and vigor, it’s a plan that doesn’t work out as much as we’d hope. Therefore, it makes our list of tour mistakes that are easy to make.

Waterfall Tour

If you binge-read our blogs on birding, river rafting, local restaurants and waterfalls, we completely understand why you’re thinking, “I’m going to wake up with the birdsong, raft down a river, eat at a local traditional restaurant, then head to Nauyaca waterfalls on my first day in Costa Rica!” But, what seems like a good idea when you’re stuck at work in front of your computer screen can turn into an…. overbooked vacation. To make sure you don’t fall into this trap consider the following first:

  • A good rule of thumb is to never book more than 1 tour per day and to exclude your arrival date and departure date from the tour date options. Most tours begin early in the day, particularly during the green season.

3. Waiting too long to book your tours:

Sometimes people wait too long to book a tour. At certain times of the year, some tours are much busier than others. If you have Cano Island or Corcovado Park on your bucket list, email us now to reserve your spot.

Cano Island Tour

During holiday weeks and the dry season, national park tickets can sell out fast. If you’ve waited too long to get tickets, don’t despair. There are more than enough opportunities to see wildlife outside of the national parks. There’s a lot of impromptu adventures to enjoy in our area, but if your heart is set on a specific tour, book early.
