Every Day in the Osa Peninsula is Like a Trip to Jurassic Park
The list of exciting things to do in Costa Rica’s Osa Peninsula is endless.
Ready to chase down tapirs and spider monkeys with an expensive camera dangling from your neck? Lock in a visit to Corcovado National Park, which is due south of Villa Montemar. Longing to swim with the turtles and dolphins at stunning Cano Island? Daily boat trips depart from nearby Sierpe each morning. Speaking of Sierpe, it’s home to the largest mangrove in Central America. Take a ride up river and you’ll be able to spot crocodiles, caimans, howler monkeys and many other crazy Costa Rican creatures.
The beaches near the villa are incredible as well.
The best of the bunch is Playa Ventenas, located a few clicks north of the property, near the town of Ojochal. Playa Ventenas features a massive walk-in cave and regularly rates as a top-tier beach in the nation. It can be a party on that stretch of sand on the weekends, with vendors slinging drinks and food, or the place can be completely empty during the weekdays.
Other nearby adventure tours include waterfall hikes, zipline rides, ATV adventures, offshore and inshore fishing trips, paragliding takeoffs, kayaking options and, of course, surfing lessons. With ocean temps near 85 degrees all year long, surfing is the number two sport in Costa Rica, only taking a backseat to soccer.

The property is located approximately 4 hours south of the international airport in San Jose. Clients can drive (4×4 vehicle required), shuttle or take a commuter flight closer to the house. Daily commuter planes leave San Jose for Quepos Airport on SANSA Airlines or Costa Rica Green Airway. From Quepos, it’s an hour drive south to the villa.
