Costa Rica in March is a Slam-Dunk Winner

Villa Koora Luxury Vacation Rental Costa Rica

Escape the madness of March by bouncing over to Costa Rica for an exhilarating vacay in the tropics.

The second half of March into mid April represents both a beginning and an end in Central America. It’s the beginning of spring break and Easter holidays, with tourists and locals flocking to beach communities to gobble up copious amounts of sunlight. It’s also the end of what’s referred to in these parts as the “dry season.” Because by May, the afternoon rains will return.

Escape the winter. Head to Costa Rica

If you’re based in North America or Europe, you’ve likely been dealing with some type of cool weather since at least November. That’s five months — darn near half a calendar year! — and quite a long time to be bundled up in multiple layers of clothing while fending off wind, rain, sleet and snow. After such a prolonged battle against the elements, we’d like to offer a reprieve.

In these parts, a lush land located much closer to the equator, ice is for cocktails, not windshields, and should be celebrated as such. Take a trip to the charming southern Pacific beach town of Dominical, Costa Rica during the next several weeks and the only chill you’re going to feel is when the young, hip people you’re traveling with ice you out for wearing socks with your sandals (please don’t do this in public).

Dominical is for Outdoor Enthusiasts

While there are plenty of good times to be had at local bars and restaurants each evening, Dominical is not a spring break party destination like Cancun or Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Instead, Dominical is an ideal spot for outdoor enthusiasts, those that want to surf beautiful waves in their swim trunks, rip down wild river rapids in a raft or take off in sea boats for fishing and snorkeling expeditions. We’ve got ATV adventures to immaculate waterfalls and mellow kayaking trips through mangroves that are teeming with captivating wildlife. Have you ever looked a caiman in its eyes from 50 yards away? Trust us, it’s a million times more exciting than an ’80’s foam party at an overcrowded nightclub.

Did we mention that the weather in this region is perfect for outdoor activities, from sunrise to sundown? In fact, we did — twice already! We apologize for rubbing it in, but it’s the truth. The average temperature at Dominical beach in March is 88 degrees Fahrenheit, with an ocean temp of 84. A typical March day in Chicago, on the other hand, is in the mid-40s. In Munich, Germany it’s about the same. That’s burr in the saddle weather, folks, and you deserve better.

March Madness Costa Rica Style

Come to southern Costa Rica this month to taste some of the best coffee you’ve ever had in your life. Make the trip to spend time with white-faced monkeys, scarlet macaws and sea turtles. Take in fresh, tropical air by throwing a hammock up on the beach or by playing Smashball in the warm, enticing sand. Experience gallo pinto with your breakfast and embrace the true meaning of pura vida. Escape the madness of real life and stream March Madness basketball games from the comfort of one of our luxury vacation villas, laptop on, feet up, poolside with a drink in your paw and a grin on your face as your tournament brackets slowly go up in flames.

The next few weeks are an absolutely ideal time to visit Costa Rica. There’s so much fun to be had, tanning to do and epic meals to enjoy. And the rain that makes this area so green and vibrant to begin with? As mentioned, it’s still a little ways off. We can talk about that in May.
