Booyah! Ballena Royale on a 6-Year Winning Streak

If we were still living in 1996, Ballena Royale would be referred to as “the bomb.”

Three decades later, it’s now “lit” or perhaps even “fire.”

Whatever your preferred nomenclature — don’t fret, Baby Boomers, it remains totally acceptable to call Ballena Royale the “Bee’s Knees” or “righteous” — what’s crystal clear is that this is the type of rental property where (good) adjectives just launch off the tongue.

What makes Ballena Royale so special?

You see, it’s been about 6 years since Ballena Royale went on the luxury vacation rental market in Dominical, Costa Rica, and in that timeframe the 5-star reviews have piled up like home runs off the bat of Hank Aaron.

Our stay was beyond perfect.
From the moment we opened the door the villa took our breath away. The pictures do not do it justice. Every amenity you would need is provided & the cleanliness is impeccable. The house concierge and management go above and beyond to assist you and are very responsive. They helped us with car rental booking, dining recommendations and even provided service to do our food shopping so we arrived to a stocked kitchen to our specifications. This was such a time saver so the moment we opened the door, our relaxing vacation began. The wildlife is amazing. We had a daily visit from the cutest sloth, beautiful bird and even monkeys! The Villa is also located in the perfect location, close to national parks and beautiful beaches. It is truly a paradise and an experience. We made memories with our children to last a lifetime and was so sad to leave, but if we do get the fortune to return, this is where we will stay. Pura Vida

Gorgeous doesn’t begin to describe the setting and quality of this slice of heaven.
The pictures cannot do justice to the view or amenities. Each room is essentially a master suite, and the kitchen well organized and a joy to cook in. The pool is spectacular…period. And the outdoor shower was more popular than the wonderful bathrooms’ showers. Having a resident sloth hang out in a nearby tree was an additional delight. We’ve been to many, many rentals in our travels, but none have remotely rivaled Ballena Royale.

Let’s Talk About The Views:

What makes Ballena Royale so special? You can read the full villa description here, but in the meantime let’s begin with the views. 

There are vast sightlines of the Pacific Ocean from the house and pool deck. These are spectacular visuals that include the famous Whale’s Tail reef and Osa Peninsula, stretching almost all the way to Panama. Behind the property, toward the east, sits a jungle rainforest, thick and green, where the sound of wild howler monkeys often permeates the tropical mist.

From scarlet macaws to agoutis, butterflies and pizotes, the range of wildlife that guests have spotted from this property is unbelievable. Oh, yeah, did we mention the sloths who’ve visited regularly over the years? True story, Zoe and Soy the sloths often stop by Ballena Royale whilst on holiday. They don’t ever pay rent or make advanced reservations, but that’s okay since they were here first and never bother the human guests.

There is so much wildlife on the property! You get to hear the howler monkeys all day, and there is a resident flock of Toucans that you get to hear and see every day, there is also a sloth that is on the property, but sadly we didn’t get a glimpse of him. So many other beautiful birds and butterflies. There is a young green iguana that we saw multiple times as well.

We were so lucky that she was in the garden just yards away most of our stay. We watched her eat & relax in the tree from the patio & upstairs bedroom.

We had a sloth visiting the property,
tons of birds, butterflies and heard the monkeys every morning. The house is equipped with everything you need for the pool, the kitchen, the rooms, plus amazing and unique details (that outdoor shower/bathub) that made our stay unforgettable. There are just not enough words to describe how we love it so much.

Location, Location, Location!

In addition to mind-altering views and wildlife encounters galore, Ballena Royale is conveniently located between the southern Pacific towns of Dominical and Uvita. With a 4×4 rental vehicle, you can get from the house to a half-dozen different beaches in less than 30 minutes. There are also endless options for both casual and elegant dining nearby, as well as more than 20 different tour activities that span a vast range of adrenaline levels. 

There are other awesome details, too, from the tub outside the primary bedroom to the epic infinity pool and a palapa that’s ideal for morning yoga sessions. A live-on couple assists all guests with cleaning, maintenance and security, making for a seamless vacation experience.

Bottom line: Ballena Royale is the bomb.
