Yoga in Costa Rica is “Pura Vida”

Yoga in Dominical

Costa Rica, in general, is a hotspot for yoga…

And the southern Pacific zone may very well be the epicenter for channeling this amazing, natural energy. When staying at one of our incredible rental villas, you’ll have easy access to daily yoga classes as well as in-home private instructors. Our scenic jungle backdrops, warm ocean breezes and spectacular wildlife offer ideal surroundings to engage in the physical, mental and spiritual practices.

Why You Should Try Yoga in Costa Rica

The area in and around Dominical attracts some pretty outdoorsy and athletic folks, from surfers, hikers and explorers to expert level yogis striking amazing poses on the beach at sunset. But don’t get intimidated if you’ve never tried yoga before. The experts over at OneHotYoga point out that “As humans, we naturally gravitate towards the heat. This is why we go on tropical vacations!”  (we can’t argue with that!) So they’ve rounded up some benefits of practicing in the heat for you to check out here. And just in case you prefer to practice inside your vacation villa with the AC cranked up, here’s the rest of the benefits so you can pat yourself on the back afterward for exercising while on vacation!

Top Spots to Practice Yoga in Southern Costa Rica

Bamboo Yoga Play Studio in Dominical

The area’s most popular venue. The facility, located across from the children’s school in the center of town, features beautiful bamboo floors, a high-tech sound system and some of the region’s most experienced and skilled instructors.

Bamboo Play has been ranked as one of the nation’s top-10 studios by Costa Rica Journeys and Costa Rica Yoga Retreats. In addition, they conduct classes specific to movement art, flow, manifest meditation, and dance. There are also private, individual and group sessions available on request. Many of the daily classes are unique, from dance workouts to specialized classes using props. Check out ‘Aerial yoga’ for example, which relies on the use of the aerial hammock overhead. A candelit class that takes place after sunset will surely help you unwind from your day. The facility offers classes and workshops seven days per week. For more information, call (506) 2787-0229 or email [email protected].

Bodhi Shambala Center

Going further south toward the town of Uvita (about a 15-minute drive from Dominical), this venue offers a perfect mixture of peace and tranquility. The structure is a two-story, wooden, open-air facility that sits adjacent to a creek bed. Bodhi Shambala Yoga Center conducts daily classes Tuesday through Friday. They offer individual private instruction as well as drop-in rates. For more information, call (506) 2743-8453.
