My husband, two daughters and son had a great vacation at this home, we were looking for a relaxing but adventurous week and got it all. This home is very comfortable and spacious the pool, hot tub and outside areas are amazing. It really makes the place with outdoor kitchen in the rancho we spent hours here cooking on the BBQ eating, drinking and having fun playing with the kids. It’s a real bonus to have the housekeeper and her husband on site to help out if needed and they do a great job keeping the house and grounds well maintained and at the same time not invading our privacy. The house is very close to Uvita which has good stores so it was easy just pick up anything we needed. There is incredible nature and wildlife everywhere just in the garden we saw white faced monkeys a sloth and many different types of birds including regular visits from Toucans and Tucanets. We have been to other areas of Costa Rica before but this area is by far the best the beaches and waterfalls are really impressive and there are a huge amount of activities close by to cater for everyone in the family. We all really enjoyed the horse ride to the Nauyaca waterfall, rafting and zip ling. All the activities the operators were friendly and professional, we wanted to do many more adventures but ran out of time. It was great to end the day around the pool watching the incredible sunsets eating BBQ and talking about our day of fun. We will be back and will recommend La Libelula to our friends it is great for a family vacation. Thanks everyone for a memorable vacation!!!

Casa Olas Azul is a magnificent vacation villa located within one of the most desirable private hillside communities in southern Pacific Costa Rica.

Nestled in a lush, vibrant cloud forest more than 1,400 feet above sea level and teeming with wildlife, Casa Olas Azul features state-of-the-art amenities, world-class ocean views, towering vaulted ceilings and plenty of privacy. Construction on the villa, which features two bedrooms and one and a half bathrooms, was completed in August 2015 and the results are stunning.

Throughout multiple parts of the property – including the kitchen, bedrooms, infinity pool and backyard barbeque area – there are incredible sightlines of the famous Whale’s Tail at Marino Ballena National Park, a rocky reef that stretches more than a mile out to sea and is completely exposed during low tides. As the ocean water fills in on high tides, the reef shelf disappears for a few hours, only to appear again as the tide rushes back out to sea. It truly is a sight to behold as nature works its course each Costa Rican day.

The kitchen area at Casa Olas Azul is completely modern, with a granite-top island for making meals and stainless steel appliances including a refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, blender, icemaker and all the cutlery you’ll need to prepare perfect feasts each day of your stay. Next to the kitchen is a living area with two sofas, a flat-screen television and DVD player. The villa also comes equipped with 4G Internet service, a secured safe for your valuables as well as a washer and dryer unit.

There are air-conditioning units in both of the bedrooms. The master bedroom features a luxurious king bed and the aforementioned extraordinary ocean views, while the second bedroom contains a pair of twin beds that can be combined to form a single, bigger bed. There is also a blowup mattress in the villa for additional sleeping space. Overall, it’s an ideal setup for families with children or a pair of couples.

Although subtle, there are some interesting aspects to the main bathroom as well. The sink resembles a small boulder with its insides carved out, and the shower floor is laced with tiny rocks. There is also a secure, frosted shower door that leads from the bathroom to the backyard. A second restroom, sans shower, is also inside the villa.

Plan to spend plenty of time outdoors at Casa Olas Azul. The infinity pool is breathtaking, and the weather is absolutely perfect to hang around on the poolside lounge chairs or grill some fresh fish on the barbeque. In addition, a landscaped tropical garden highlights the backyard foliage.

This luxurious vacation villa is located in the Costa Azul property development, about 20 minutes off the coastal highway and almost directly centered between the towns of Dominical and Uvita, where you can find restaurants, grocery stores and pharmacies. The road to the development features both dirt and concrete, and a 4x4 vehicle is required. There is a security gate to enter the grounds with a full-time guard on duty. This area is extremely safe and incredibly beautiful. Because it’s located high in the cloud forest, the temperature at Casa Olas Azul is often 10 degrees cooler than down at the beach.

As guests in the Costa Verde Estata development, your group will have access to the best outdoor tennis court in the southern zone, a workout room adjacent to the tennis court, a large outdoor picnic area and a helicopter pad in case of serious medical emergencies. Tennis rackets and balls are provided by the house, so there’s little need to pack your playing gear for the trip.

All in all, Casa Olas Azul is a prime vacation destination, perhaps the best in all of Costa Rica. From outdoor adventure to indoor luxury, this is the spot to be for viewing remarkable wildlife – monkeys, toucans and sloths are common visitors – or simply kicking your feet up poolside and reading a good book. So take the plunge and reserve your once-in-a-lifetime vacation at Casa Olas Azul today!

Costa Rica Luxury with Impeccable Service
I can confirm the other reviews are accurate and this Villa is immaculate, gorgeous, new and situated in a magical setting above the ocean with the best Costa Rica has to offer. I would add two points of emphasis. First, we spent a week here with our college-bound teenagers (hard to please, gotta have high-speed internet) and they were entirely pleased with the offerings. The internet service was recently updated and it speed tested out regularly over 5.5mbs meaning these guys could rip up the internet with games and yapping with a million friends simultaneously as if they were home. We did all the typical eating, touring and lounging but the comforts of the Villa allows you to avoid the sort of forced camping vibe that can happen when you take teenagers off into far away lands. Second, I cannot state strongly enough how awesome the service was. Josue was in constant contact and available for all matter of help and information. From the moment of our arrival, which was delayed by Airline and Rental Car fiascos, he faithfully waited to escort us to the Villa and even dropped a pin on WhatsApp that aided our final navigation after the rental car goofballs loaded bad data into the GPS. You take a leap of faith renting a home in a far away land that the guy with the keys will be there at the appointed time. The point is, Josue works very hard to remove all the stress and make sure you just enjoy the Villa in peace. We certainly did as the property is everything they promise and the jungle creatures will make their daily visits. The airline moved up our departing flight and our check out agent actually arrived early which was yet another way something that could have been stressful was totally chill. Four Seasons level service deserves recognition especially when we expected some "Tico time" dynamics which never was the case with this villa. We left refreshed, thankful for a peaceful week and grateful for the world-class service.

Peaceful Perfection in the Treetops!
Our family spent a week at Casa Olas Azul and I can't recommend this petite villa highly enough. Although small, this beautiful home has been perfectly maintained with much attention to every detail.
The first night we were there a thunderstorm woke us in in the middle of the night - it was a wonderful and dramatic welcome to the rainforest! We awoke to find toucans among the many other birds all around, a resident sloth in the tree nearest the pool, and stunning views of the Whale Tail (Marino Ballena National Park). The privacy was unbeatable.
The approach to Casa Olas Azul is dramatic and adventurous in and of itself. A 15-20 minute climb from the coastal highway on dirt roads with steep inclines makes for a true sense of really being away from it all, completely immersed in the beautiful natural environment that this stretch of the coastline has to offer. You are away from the throngs of tourists in Manuel Antonio, yet perfectly situated should you wish to make the 45 minute drive for a day trip up north.
We enjoyed driving down the hill each day for visits to Uvita, Dominical, and the many tucked away beaches in between. Neil and his team were fantastic and attentive. Josue met us at the Jolly Roger and escorted us to the house, and then followed up with us several days later to make sure all was well. We were beyond thrilled, both with YouGoThere as well as Costa Verde Estates.

Perfect Getaway!
My husband and I spent our honeymoon in Costa Rica last year and loved it so much that we decided to plan a return trip this year. After looking at different resorts and rentals we settled on Casa Olas Azul and it definitely did NOT disappoint! The little villa is even more perfect than in the pictures and the scenery was absolutely breathtaking. The pool/patio has the most beautiful ocean view and we spent many a day just lounging around the villa. We also took many trips into nearby Dominical as well as checking out several of the local beaches. There are plenty of activities/tours to book nearby and everyone we interacted with during our stay there was super helpful and responded quickly to any questions that we had. Would highly recommend this to anyone!

Breathtaking Views, Private, Cozy Villa in Pardise
Wow, what a vacation. Imagine waking up every morning and walking outside to these beautiful views of the Marina Ballena whale's tail, with toucans jumping from branch to branch in a nearby tree as the sounds of howler monkeys fill the dense surrounding canopy. Then walking back inside you your own private 2 BR house with a fully stocked kitchen, fresh tropical fruit for breakfast and some nice AC when you're ready to escape the humidity and relax. If you haven't booked your flight to CR yet you should do it now, but if this property is still available you should reserve it first. I still have the photos I shot from the pool deck as the screensaver on my desktop. Our contact for the property, Stephen, was the perfect host. He is an American ex-pat turned local and he helped us book some tours and even guided us up the hill for our first ascent to the property to make sure we got there without any confusion. The week I spent with my wife in Costa Rica at Casa Olas Azul was probably the best vacation I have ever had, and this little baby high up on the hill was the cornerstone of every experience. I loved jumping in the pool every morning then showering off in the indoor/outdoor shower surrounded by nature. The shower is seriously the best part of this house (besides the pool and the view). It has a door that leads outside where there is another shower head so two people can shower at once. But the property is so secluded and private that I almost exclusively used the outside shower - it was amazing. There is one house behind the property where their view of that area is mostly obstructed and is also pretty far away, so really who cares if they see your butt - you're in Costa Rica on vacation, live a little. Otherwise the house feels very private, because when you look down the hill there are no other homes in front of you And the pictures on this listing are 100% accurate - you will not get tired of that view, I promise. There is a bar down the hill that I highly recommend, they have great food (get the wings) and live music. There are tennis courts and a gym on the property (about a 2-3 minute drive from the house), and a guard at the gated entrance. Getting up and down the hill will be daunting your first time, but by the 2nd or 3rd day you'll be a natural. I think our record going down was about 12 minutes, only because we were running late for our snorkel trip to Cano Island - drive safely, wear your seatbelt, BE SURE YOU HAVE 4WD, and you'll be fine.

Perfect Romantic Getaway
My husband and I chose to stay at this villa for our honeymoon. We stayed a total of 5 nights, which went by way too fast. It was beyond what we could have imagined! The weather was just right. The scenery was breathtaking. As honeymooners, privacy was key for us. There was only one villa on a hilltop that you could partially see from one corner of the pool. There is another villa on the other side also on a hilltop that you could see if utilizing the poolside chaise lounge chairs. However, if directly behind the villa, it's just you and nature. We had a tucan visit us. We had no problem with mosquitoes. There is a gas grill, which we used to cook fresh fish and shrimp on. La Macha is a great place for fresh seafood. Kitchen was fully stocked with spices, pots and pans, appliances, utensils, etc. There were beach chairs, a cooler, and floaters that you were welcome to take with you to the beach. You will definitely need a 4x4 SUV! The path to the villa is roughly half an hour. Most of the DVDs didn't work during our stay. However, Stephen was going to look into that after we left. There is a pool guy and a cleaning lady who come around each week. We requested that the pool guy come after our stay and for the cleaning lady to come when we had a day of activities planned. Josue was very accommodating with our needs. For activities, we recommend Rancho La Merced for horseback riding through a gorgeous property among cattle and horses and then on a private beach. You can request a private tour for your party or join along a group tour. We also recommend Manuel Antonio Jet Ski Tours. They include snorkeling and whale watching if in season for migration. We got to ride along two humpback whales during our tour. It was spectacular. We stopped in the middle of the tour for some of the sweetest pineapple you will have. The Falafel Bar in Manuel Antonio has the best falafel sandwiches I've ever had! If you are looking for a private stretch of beach, Playa Hermosa is very nice. You can park where everyone parks and then walk down a bit and prepare to be amazed. For groceries, you can get from Maxi Pali, especially anything that would be packaged or imported. We got better deals for fresh fruit and veggies from the fresh market. We absolutely enjoyed our stay. The locals were super friendly. The villa was clean, gorgeous, and Josue and Stephen were prompt to respond to any questions or concerns we had. We look forward to coming back!

Amazing views, great pool, lots of wildlife
We had an amazing stay at Casa Olas Azul.  The house is perfectly situated for amazing views of the ocean and the whales tale.  Relax on a lounge or hang in the pool and watch beautiful mountain sunrises and gorgeous ocean sunsets.  We were greeted each morning by singing birds including 2 types of toucans and hummingbirds.  Coati and butterflies also made appearances.  It is a 20 minute drive to the main road, but once there, you are minutes away from downtown Dominical, several beautiful beaches, kayak rentals at Playa Tortuga,  a waterfall hike (we saw a sloth, cool giant insects, leaf cutter ants, a tree full of hummingbirds, and even a monkey) to a huge double fall where you can swim and cliff dive.  We bought fresh fruit right down the road at a stand that has howler monkeys hanging out in the trees.  It was a wonderful place to stay for our first visit to Costa Rica.
