My husband, two daughters and son had a great vacation at this home, we were looking for a relaxing but adventurous week and got it all. This home is very comfortable and spacious the pool, hot tub and outside areas are amazing. It really makes the place with outdoor kitchen in the rancho we spent hours here cooking on the BBQ eating, drinking and having fun playing with the kids. It’s a real bonus to have the housekeeper and her husband on site to help out if needed and they do a great job keeping the house and grounds well maintained and at the same time not invading our privacy. The house is very close to Uvita which has good stores so it was easy just pick up anything we needed. There is incredible nature and wildlife everywhere just in the garden we saw white faced monkeys a sloth and many different types of birds including regular visits from Toucans and Tucanets. We have been to other areas of Costa Rica before but this area is by far the best the beaches and waterfalls are really impressive and there are a huge amount of activities close by to cater for everyone in the family. We all really enjoyed the horse ride to the Nauyaca waterfall, rafting and zip ling. All the activities the operators were friendly and professional, we wanted to do many more adventures but ran out of time. It was great to end the day around the pool watching the incredible sunsets eating BBQ and talking about our day of fun. We will be back and will recommend La Libelula to our friends it is great for a family vacation. Thanks everyone for a memorable vacation!!!

Unspoiled natural beauty and exceptional privacy are just a few of the incredible features at Casa Alaska, a premier vacation villa located along Costa Rica’s immaculate southern Pacific coastline.

Featuring two bedrooms and a studio loft, Casa Alaska is an ideal getaway villa for honeymooners, small families and friendly couples. The home is located in the town of Escaleras, one of the area’s premier mountainside neighborhoods, and comfortably sleeps six guests.

Each bedroom has its own on-suite bathroom, shower and air-conditioning unit. The master bedroom features a king bed while the second room has a double bed. The bedrooms both have individual access to the swimming pool and lounge area out back. Furthermore, the upstairs loft has its own futon for lounging or sleeping on, and there is a washer and dryer on site.

The kitchen area at Casa Alaska is completely modern, with a dishwasher, oven, stove, microwave, blender, coffee pot and all of the appliances you’d need to make your tropical meals extra special. The granite kitchen countertop is expansive, covering almost 9 feet in each direction, and is perfect for setting out snacks, fresh fruits, sit-down meals and deserts. There are also large sliding doors with screens that supply ideal ocean breezes into the kitchen and living space.

With a loveseat, rocking chair and flat-screen television with satellite, the front room is a great place to put your feet up and rest following a thrilling day of exciting outdoor activities.

From the pool deck, guests can see the Pacific Ocean through an unbelievable canopy of jungle trees and brush. This is where a lot of nature’s magic happens, with toucans soaring through the crisp morning breezes and monkeys swinging from vine to vine, without a care in the world. You can – and likely will – sit on that pool deck for hours and watch the jungle creatures live their lives in plain sight, them spying on you as you investigate them.

The swimming pool is approximately 25 feet in length, so using it to do short laps is a healthy exercise option. There is also a built-in barbeque on the pool deck that’s ideal for grilling fresh fish, streaks and vegetables. The fish you can purchase here is some of the best in the world, with locals regularly hooking into snapper, tuna and mahi-mahi, and selling it fresh off the line at select locations. For added outdoor convenience, there’s an enclosed, all-wood shower around the corner from the pool.

From the coastal highway, Casa Alaska is about 10 minutes into the community of Escaleras on a dirt road. A solid 4x4 vehicle is required to access the road and property. The nearest bar and restaurant, Bar Jolly Roger, is less than a 5-minute drive from the front door. Bar Jolly Roger is a local hotspot for wings, burgers, draft beer and live music. You’ll love having the convenience of this restaurant on the mountainside.

Beaches, grocery stores, restaurants, pharmacies and banks are all located within a 20-minute drive of Casa Alaska. The location of the home is very central, being situated almost directly in-between the towns of Dominical to the north and Uvita to the south, so getting around is a cinch.

If you long for privacy, warm weather, incredible beaches, modern amenities and the raw beauty of the Costa Rican jungle, then Casa Alaska is a stunning vacation villa that awaits your arrival.

Drive Times, Airport and Car Rental

• The closest beach is a 5-minute drive from the villa. There are many other beaches just a few extra minutes away in either direction, north or south.

• The closest regional airport is in Quepos and is a 40-minute drive from the villa.

• The international airport in San Jose is a 3 hour drive to the villa.

• You will need to rent a 4x4 vehicle. We have a reputable car rental agency based in Dominical that we use for many of our clients. We can assist you with booking a vehicle if you’d like.

Outdoor Activities

Southern Pacific Costa Rica is a hotbed for outdoor activity all year long. In the Dominical area, there are incredible beaches for surfing, stand-up paddling, kayaking and sunbathing. There are beaches with big waves (Dominical), medium waves (Playa Hermosa) and gentle waves (Dominicalito). Marino Ballena National Park and Playa Ventanas to the south are some of the most beautiful, pristine and uncrowded stretches of sand in the world. And did we mention the ocean water is always in the mid-80s! It’s warmer than bathwater!

In addition to the world-class beaches, there are numerous local waterfalls to explore, including the famous Nauyaca Waterfalls, an incredible double falls with large swimming area. Other popular outdoor activities include:

• Zip Lining, ATV Adventures, River Rafting Trips

• Inshore & Offshore Fishing Charters, Bird Watching

• Nature Hikes, Snorkeling or Scuba Diving at Cano Island

• Whale Watching Boats, Waterfall Rappelling & Horseback Rides

Local Restaurants & Services

There is a unique selection of restaurants close to the villa that offer a variety of cuisine ranging from Costa Rican meals to international flavors, many featuring ocean views or intimate dinning setups. We can assist you with choosing these and have a guest book of all the best restaurants in the area. Or, if you want a romantic dinner cooked at the villa, we can arrange that as well.

We also offer in-home massages that are available by appointment, as well as chef services for afternoon and evening meals.

Guests should be aware that roads in Costa Rica are often unpaved and a four-wheel drive, 6 cylinder vehicle is definitely required for getting from place to place and is essential to access this property.

Awesome villa!
My wife and I stayed at this beautiful and secluded 2 bedroom villa just north of the town of Uvita. It is only about 2 years old and is very modern and exceptionally clean. The kitchen is well stocked an appointed with modern appliances (if you wish to cook while in the villa). The outdoor pool area is awesome too. AC in the bedrooms is a wonderful feature that is not always included in rentals in Costa Rica. We saw a great deal of monkeys, toucans, and other wildlife in the trees overlooking the pacific ocean. Overall we had a great time. One thing to mention, you MUST have a 4-wheel drive vehicle to access this property. It is located 3.2 Km (2 miles) up a mountain dirt/gravel road. Some areas along your journey are rather steep (including the top section of the driveway). No problem as long as you have a 4X4 SUV or P/U truck. Don't forget to stop by the Bar Jolly Roger (located at 2.5 Km up the mountain road) at some point during your stay to get a burger or some of their awesome chicken wings! The property management company personnel (Neil, Stephen & Josue) are all wonderful to deal with. They are pleasant, informative and work very diligently to ensure you have a enjoyable and relaxing time at the villa. I highly recommend this property.

Beautifully built new house!
Sometimes when booking online my expectations fall short of the reality of the rental I am booking.  That was definitely not the case with Casa Alaska.  Our host was incredibly gracious and helpful.  The house was very comfortable and immaculately clean.  When the sun was out the family would set outside and eat by the pool and listen to the monkeys.  The rental was fully stocked with all the necessities for cooking and hosting.  Although I would not call the house secluded, because there are neighbors
in the vicinity, the location is very private with lots of wild life, tall trees, and singing birds.  There are a multitude of activities to do in the area.  The kids took surf lessons in Dominical and went on a zip line tour in Hacienda Baru.  The location of the house is situated in the middle of two great little towns.  Driving from the house to Uvita takes about fifteen minutes.  In Uvita there are many restaurants, car rental facilities, pharmacies, Doctors, tourist activities, you name it.  If you decide to drive to Dominical, you will find a quaint little town with great restaurants and all the tourist activities you could hope to find.  Our host was fabulous.  He recommended tours for us and dining options.  He was punctual and kind.  Overall Casa Alaska was a truly great experience and I would highly recommend the rental for anyone looking to have a great vacation.

Amazing hospitality!
My husband and I, along with another couple had the pleasure of staying 7 nights at Casa Alaska. We were greeted by Stephen upon arrival on the mountain and he guided us to the house. The house was the perfect size for us and was stocked with everything we needed throughout the week. The pool outside and view of  monkeys swinging from trees was a plus. Our house was cleaned and there was 24/7 maintenance available if needed. I highly recommend staying here- all involved were so hospitable!

New Private Mountain-side Ocean View - Enjoy Nature and Adventure
The Casa: This is our third trip to the Dominical/Uvita/Escaleras area and we love it!  Casa Alaska is new and has all the essentials you need to enjoy and explore this area. It is very private & quiet except for sounds of nature. It would work well for two couples or a family. If you don't need an expansive space, with this casa you would not be paying for more than you need. Each bedroom has a bathroom, plus there is an outdoor shower. Each bedroom and the kitchen/living area open on to the pool with options of having the sliding doors open for the sights and sounds and breeze of the jungle and ocean beyond or glass doors closed or just screen doors closed instead. There are ceiling fans throughout and air conditioners in the bedrooms if needed.
Getting there: Part of your Costa Rica adventure is traveling up the mountain road to get to Casa Alaska. You will need a 4X4. The casa is about 5 or 6 minutes up the "Jolly Roger" Road. The first time you will be led up there by one of the management team from You Get There, after that you will be fine day or night, rain or shine on the road.
Nature: In the patio/pool area our visitors included toucans, leaf-cutter ants, creatures pretending to be leaves, a pretty poison-arrow from, 2 pizotes/coatis or something similar and lots of fireflies/lightning bugs. We could hear howler monkeys and also saw them and capuchin  monkeys in the area.
Service: Neil and his management team from You Get Here made sure everything was just right for us to really enjoy our stay in the area. Steve met us and led us to the casa and shared info with us on all the beaches, restaurants, activities and tours available in the area. We told him which we were interested in and he investigated the times and tides and set everything up for us.
Activities:   Two of us did private surfing lessons. All 4 of us did the horseback ride to the super amazing Nauyaca Falls. All of us went on a day long trip to Cano island National Park for snorkeling and we all went on a kayak trip in the mangroves. Each trip was deluxe.
Restaurants: You do not even have to come down off the mountain to find a fun restaurant/bar just a few minutes away – the Bar Jolly Roger. We also enjoyed Café Mono Congo, Patron’s, Tortilla Flats, Roca Verde, Por Que No and La Parcella.  On previous trips we also had a chance to go to  Restaurante Charter and La Macha.
Beaches - so many to enjoy. We will be back!
